20 Feb The Midwest Book Review
Jimmy can’t believe the summer is over and it’s already the first day of school, but he’s still excited to see all his friends and start the new year! But when he gets to class, he notices his friend Benny being bullied by some of the other kids. He wants to help, but he just doesn’t know how. And then his teacher tells the class their homework for the day: think of a riddle to bring to the class tomorrow, one that’ll stump everyone. With so much to think about after a long day, Jimmy falls asleep and has a crazy dream, where he meets Miss Money Honey, her flying piggy bank, and Lenny Penny, a shy but important coin who comes out of the piggy bank. The dream is strange, but may have everything Jimmy needs to solve all his problems from his first day of school. Children ages 5-6 will enjoy joining Jimmy as he learns not only the value and importance of a penny, but most importantly how to stand up to bullies, for himself and for his friends.
MIDWEST BOOK REVIEW: “An original and thoroughly entertaining picture book with an important underlying message about dealing with bullies, “Miss Money Honey and the Riddle” is unreservedly recommended for family, elementary school, and community library picture book collections for young readers.”
